Shortly after I posted about Eddie's fever, I went outside to turn off the sprinklers and got chilled ... and then never got unchilled after coming inside. My lower back and legs are achy. My stomach was a bit off, but not much. Mostly achy and chills. Took my temperature about 15 minutes ago - 99.6.
Sigh. This is what some might call adding insult (a fever and aches) to injury (cancer, radiation, surgery, etc.) .. .
Luckily, my folks were coming over here in the morning to help me clean. Mom will also bring chicken noodle soup and ginger ale or something like that. This is when I'm thankful they are close! They've been a tremendous help ... sometimes I feel bad about how much they help and I try to reciprocate.
Maybe I will finally get a good night's sleep!

Hi,
"Tis better to give than to receive." Most of us learned this phrase as kids, the message being "Don't be selfish! Think of others."
It took on a whole new meaning for me after I developed cancer and needed help from so many people. To help me accept help without feeling badly (or feeling obligated to reciprocate), I remind myself that I didn't choose my illness or the accompanying increased needs. And that whenever my friends and family offer to help out, it is because THEY feel better emotionally - less helpless and hopeless - when they do.
I hope you feel better soon.
with hope, Wendy
Hi Wendy,
Thanks for the reminder .. . I know that it makes my folks feel less helpless when they can do something. I think my friends and colleagues are at a loss sometimes as to what to do to help. I try to let them know that sometimes, just inviting me to walk or go to coffee is great. So, yeah, thank you for your reminder!
Dee
